Jason Lane kicked off the first day of 'Leading for Life' 2007 at 9am with a session called, “Be of good courage!” He talked about the reality of fear for leaders and how courage can be found in meeting with Jesus and being in community with each other.

For session two, Charlie Hadjiev taught from the book of Revelation about God's worthiness and power being our primary motivation for mission. Dr Mee-Yan Cheung-Judge facilitated the afternoon sessions by giving delegates practical tools for leading change right where they are.

Today's four sessions have been interspersed with prayer and worship. During meals and coffee breaks, delegates have been swapping stories, ideas and inspiration.

Sound Bytes from the Day:
  • "Fear is the biggest single reason we don't do what God has asked us to. It affects us deeply as leaders. What is it you would do if you weren't afraid?" -Jason Lane
  • "Often when we think about mission, we make a fundamental mistake. We think our mission is to save people from 'the fires of hell'. This is all good and true, but inadequate. The gospel is not about avoiding death only. It is about new life." -Charlie Hadjiev
  • "You need to honour what people hold dear because every single change involves a shifting of identity." -Mee-Yan Cheung-Judge
